StreetLights Run – 10 km

The idea behind the “StreetLights Run – 10 km” was very interesting. Towards the end of 2025, the members of The Fitness Hub discussed how we could finish the year in a special way. During this discussion, someone suggested a 10 km night run under street lights, and everyone liked the idea.

At first, the event was planned only for club members. Later, we decided to open registration to the public as well. In the beginning, no one took it very seriously. However, once our promotions went live, the response was surprising, with over 35 runners registering.

As the event grew, we made it slightly more organised. Unfortunately, on the event day, heavy rain affected the programme. Even so, 24 runners took part and completed the race in the rain, while more than 50 spectators came to support them.

The race started at 8:06p.m., and the last runner returned at around 8:58p.m.

The winners were:

1st Place: Major Dhanushka Dias – 41:40

2nd Place: Lalith Chandralal – 41:46

3rd Place: Sanjaya Gamage – 47:01

After the award ceremony, we spent time talking with the runners and spectators. Refreshments were served, and everyone enjoyed a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

I was the organiser of this event and did my best with a limited budget, which was collected from The Fitness Hub members. The feedback was very positive, and the event was successfully completed.
