Our gem business has a rich legacy that began with my grandfather in a small village called Atulugama. This village is strategically nestled within Sri Lanka’s famed gem triangle, which includes Ratnapura, Colombo, and Beruwala. Initially, the business operated traditionally, without a formal structure, business name, or registration. However, when I took over from my father, I set out to modernise and formalise our operations.
Today, we are proud to be a registered entity with the National Gem and Jewellery Authority (NGJA) and maintain active memberships with international organisations. With over three decades of local trade experience, we have forged robust networks with miners, merchants, and other key players in the industry. These relationships are the backbone of our operations.
To further cement my expertise, I pursued advanced training programmes at the Gem and Jewellery Research and Training Institute (GJRTI), and completed a diploma in coloured stones from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). These qualifications have been invaluable as we expanded our offerings beyond gem hunting.
Our services are diverse and designed to meet the needs of the gemstone community. We not only sell our stocked gemstones but also provide heat treatment services. This traditional method of colour enhancement is optimised with advanced technology to ensure quality. Additionally, we assist overseas buyers in sourcing their preferred gemstones by guiding them through Sri Lanka’s vibrant gem markets. We offer comprehensive support including customs clearance, certification, and courier services, ensuring convenience and peace of mind.
We also offer expeditions into Sri Lanka’s gem industry, providing an immersive experience from mining to market. These tours aim to educate and inspire, showcasing the rich heritage and modern innovations within the sector.
