Starting at the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka’s premier engineering university, was a turning point in my life. After earning a high Z-score in my A-levels, specialising in mathematics, I secured a spot at this prestigious institution. I graduated in 2016 and promptly joined BPPL PLC’s management training programme. My career soon took me to various roles across Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Australia, and the UAE, each offering valuable lessons and experiences.

From my university days, I nurtured a keen interest in entrepreneurship. I was fascinated by how technology could be used to create value and solve problems creatively. While still studying, I ventured into freelancing, providing engineering drafting services for international clients. Platforms like Fiverr and oDesk were instrumental in helping me connect with global partners and hone my entrepreneurial skills.

As my career progressed, I explored side hustles, like selling imported chocolate, which further ignited my entrepreneurial spirit. My professional journey included exciting opportunities in the Maldives and Melbourne, Australia, bringing new challenges and growth. The onset of COVID-19 prompted a move to the UAE, where I continued to expand my horizons and skill set.

After seven years in the corporate world, I made a bold decision to join my family business. This move allowed me to blend my extensive career experience and engineering expertise in a meaningful way. In addition to managing gemstone merchandising, I’ve invested in marketing agencies and product trading firms, further diversifying my entrepreneurial endeavours.
